Tyruss Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 First Timer here....The Irish Fest is 8-16 to 8-19 so hotels have raised their rates during a couple of nights of my trip I believe. Will the same be true when bidding through Priceline? My selection will be downtown 4*. Curious...given that if it's a special rate weekend for hotels, would that maybe increase my chances of getting a hotel like InterContinental, Pfister, Residence Inn by Marriott?? Sorry if question(s) seems odd, I'm new to this. While looking at past posts, I've noticed the Hyatt appears to be the predominant hotel. Nothing wrong with that just an observation. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
thereuare Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!A few of the hotels that have been reported in this zone are sold-out for the above dates, which is indicative of high demand. When demand is very high it makes your chance of success lower... since hotels give excess inventory (ie- rooms they don't anticipate selling on their own) to the opaque suppliers, there is little reason to give inventory (at deeply discount prices) to the opaque providers when they believe they can sell the rooms on their own at full price. What is your maximum nightly bid/budget for this stay? Tyruss Posted April 14, 2007 Author Report Posted April 14, 2007 I make an annual solo trip to a baseball town, see a few games and do the tourist stuff. I have no budget for my baseball trips so I could go has high as needed. I read a post about a bidder getting the Ambassador and I don't wish to stay there. Thanks for your help thereuare!
thereuare Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 The Ambassador has been reported as a 4* in the Downtown zone, so if you don't want to stay there, then i don't think you should bid on priceline.Have you searched HOTWIRE and been able to identify the properties offered thru their service?
