I am a first time visitor. I have already booked my tickets to NYC. I am unable to find a good hotel in manhattan. My budget is < $175.

Date: 4/19-4/22

Star: 2.5*+ ( Last choice will consider 2* too :) )

Zone: Preferably close to times square. or any zone most convenient for first time tourist.

Max: $175.

Any advice strategy and pointer appreciated.

I bid in PL for MTW/MTE for 150 and it was rejected.

Not sure of your age group, but how would making a back-up reservation at The Pod Hotel for $169/nite? Rooms are notoriously small but the hotel was recently renovated (by the new owner) and the reviews have been good.

I logged to priceline using savingbarns.com and use re-bid zone instruction in your website.

Well no luck . I was unable to find any 2.5* hotel in midtown for max $200. All bids were rejected.

Finally as last option I tried 2* for max of $200. Bid was accepted. Got Clarion Hotel Park Avenue.

Not the best hotel i wanted for my first trip to NY. In any case ...did not want to wait till last minute.
