wetweb Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Booked flights already last minute and now looking for the place to rest and relax. Typically would stay where my comps are but since this a first time Vegas visit for a female companion looking to make it special so opting to stay at the Venetian.Based on what is available direct booking thought about settling for the direct booking for the Venezia Luxury view w/ Canyon Ranch spa package. This priced out to $1369 w/ tax. Since would really prefer the Venezia but thought could make up for the package by saving some money by bidding. The package includes $100/day spa credit, and $35/day spa pass. The cost between the package and direct booking only the room is about $50-100 depending on the room. Before booking I decide to take a quick look at priceline to see about potentially saving some money and just paying for the spa items out of the savings. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Moving onto Priceline. I already submitted a Priceline bid of $175/night and was given a second chance offer for $306/night. Current price as of today to book the Venetian Luxury is $499/night. Would really aim to end up in a Venezia suite but would likely settle for a Venetian Luxury with view as I would try to upgrade upon arrival which would probably be pushing it since I won't be arriving until 7PM. I can only assume going back to the $306 offer from Priceline would end up in a Venetian Luxury with potentially lack of view.Question would be between bidding and rebidding on Priceline what would be a apt strategy to potentially end up with the room less than $300/night and looking for any experiences on getting upgraded to Venezia post booking. Also open to suggestions for working out late checkout since return flight is not until 4/19 1am. Not concerned about the cost since was going to settle on the package but just looking at saving some money would be nice since could then spoil my companion elsewhere if could end up in the desired room.
thereuare Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Keep in mind that you're not just bidding on the Venetian... there are other 5* hotels in Vegas (Bellagio, Wynn, Mandalay Bay, etc) and you could potentially be the first to report a new 5* hotel in this zone. This 'warning' is a bit more appropriate right now as there is a 'new' 5* appearing on HOTWIRE lately (which has different amenities than the Venetian). If you still would like to bid let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow (as well, if you'd like to bid, how much time do you want to put into bidding... you have mutliple re-bid zones available so if you don't mind bidding for an hour we can go that route, or if you're willing to put in 10-15 minutes we can go that route as well).Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
wetweb Posted April 11, 2007 Author Report Posted April 11, 2007 Thanks for the quick reply but I likely won't go the bidding route at this time. I ended up booking the direct package today since the prices went up $400. I actually ended up having to settle for the Venetian Luxury w/ confirmed view ($100 more than the Venezia yesterday package) and hope they take mercy upon check-in to upgrade me to the Venezia Luxury. They still had plenty of availability similar to yesterday but the agents couldn't explain the increase so guess I will live with my choice.
