Oyvind Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Guys, trying to locate a nice hotel, preferably 4* in downtown Chicago from Fri 13th to Sun 15th April.4* MMA - Streeterville $131/night, retail $209Customer FavouriteFitness, Business c, SPA, Restaurant, High-speed InternetHyatt Regency?3.5* MMA - Streeterville$121/night, retail $199Customer FavouriteFitness, Restaurant, High-speed Internet, Pool, Business cWhich one could this be?Which of the ones above is better quality? Can't always trust the * I guess. Other suggestions?Im staying one night near airport (arriving late) then two nights downtown before going to Naperville to stay with friends. Been in Chicago before but haven't stayed in the downtown area.Great forum, your help is much appreciated,Oyvind
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 The 4* looks like the Hyatt. The 3.5* could be the Wyndham or, more likely, the Sheraton. Not a huge fan of either, to be honest. Let me look and see if I can see anything else.Edit: Can't trust the * rating is right. These are both considered 4*, but they feel more like average 3* hotels.
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 From the Customer comments, it looks like the Sheraton, not the Wyn. Still looking.
Oyvind Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 Thanks, could also consider staying three nights downtown from 04/12/07 to 04/15/07 instead of first night at ORD. I now see my flight is scheduled to arrive at 8pm which is not really late. For that period I see a:4* MMA Streeterville$121, retail 207.40Customer FavoriteFitness, Restaurant, High-speed I, Pool, Business cWhich one could this be and is it better than the two others?cheers,Oyvind
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 You can get the Westin River North for $175.20 (20% off) non-refundable through the hotel website here: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/promotions/p...l?promoCode=Z2HWhat appears to be the W Lakeshore is showing on Hotwire for Friday only for $108 and then what appears to be the Intercontinental is showing for $121 if you look up Saturday only. If you didn't mind moving, that would be a slightly better deal for different hotels.Just tossing out ideas.
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 OOOoh I have a good idea. Brb. Edit: didn't work. I thought the Westin could be had via a "stay 2 nights, get 1 free deal", but no go.The 4* Mag Mile/streeterville w/pool is likely the Intercontinental.
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Personally, I would much prefer the Intercontinental vs. the Hyatt or Sheraton. The Hotwire deal with pool is definitely not the Hyatt, as, despite the fact that it's Chicago's biggest hotel, the Hyatt has no pool. The Hyatt's fine under $100 discounted, but over that and it starts to get too much. Here are two pages detailing the Intercontinental's lengthy and neat history:http://chicago.intercontinental.com/chiic/history.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterContinental_Chicago
