learn2golf Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 I've never used Hotwire or Priceline, so I could use some help...I've seen $161 for a 5 star on Hotwire what do you think I could get on Priceline (I want to stay on the strip) Also, which hotels does HOtwire/Priceline consider to be a 5 star hotels?
thereuare Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you let us know your maximum bid for a 5* hotel we will outline a strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
learn2golf Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 The price of $161 is per night for a 2 night stay, I don't mind doing 2 nights at a 5* and 2 nights at a 4*. I've read that some have paid $120/night at the Venetian, my max would be $150 before tax... is that realistic for a 5*
thereuare Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Are you showing the 5* on HOTWIRE at $161 for your complete stay... i just did a HOTWIRE search and the 5* property comes up at $300+ (and that is why you mention SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID in yoru post above). If so, which dates do you see the 5* at $161?Edit to Add: i see the $161/nite rate for both 5/28-5/30 and also when searching for 5/28-5/31... if you can get a 5* for $150 or less, would you want to try for 3 nites at a 5* (and 1 nite at a 4*) or would you want to split 2nites/2nites? Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
learn2golf Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 I'd like to split 2nites/2nites. I would want the 4* to be on the strip; based on the prices I've seen so far we would stay at the 4* 5/30-5/31.
thereuare Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 While i do think you'll be successful for a 5* for the first two nites of your stay at $150 or less, i presume that if you're not successful you wouldn't really want to split your bid?If so, i would recommend securing the first two nites of your stay (at a 5* hotel) first and then proceeding to purchase the remaining two nites at a 4*.If you want to try for a 5* first, you have seven re-bid zones when bidding 5* in Las Vegas. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 5* Strip and re-bid zone6...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. learn2golf Posted April 7, 2007 Author Report Posted April 7, 2007 We went through the SavingsBarn link to get to PL and we got the Venetian for $120/nite for 2 nites; we're waiting on our friends to book 5/30-6/01. Btw, PL offered us $133/nite after our first bid of $100 and I declined and re-bid...Sometimes persistence pays off. Thanks for the help!
