I would also consider Midtown South.Minimum 2.5 Star hotel.Obviously I would like to spend as little as possible. Thanks
thereuare Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I need 2 rooms for Saturday 4/21 and 1 Room Sunday 4/22.You can't make one bid with this criteria... you'll need to make two separate purchases, either:1) one room for 4/21 and one room for 4/21-4/23or2) two rooms for 4/21 and one room for 4/22Either way you bid, you won't be assured of receiving the same hotel. To increase the likelihood of receiving the same hotel you can do similar searches above on HOTWIRE and see if what appears to be the same hotel appears on each search... you coudl then make the first purchase and then search again and make the second purchase. However, still a little risk in this as once you make the first purchase what appears to be the same hotel may not appear for the second purchase. We often advise to stick with 3* and higher rated hotels in NYC, but of course it depends upon what you're accustomed to and your budget.Let us know your thoughts regarding making the two separate purchases and if that will still work for your needs. Either way, also let us know your maximum budget for this stay and we'll advise accordingly. Gater1848 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks... I know it is an odd request. We will have 4 people on Saturday right now we have Embassy Suites downtown booked that we plan on sharing for the night. I think that is $249/night. I know with priceline there is no guarantee of 2 queens or a suite.I know we could get cheaper somewhere else for Sunday. We don't mind being downtown, but we would rather be in midtown. and yeah I would like 3* but we are also trying to make this a relatively cheap trip.We also will switch hotels on Sunday if necessary.
thereuare Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 So if i interpret the above correctly you want to try for 2 rooms for 4/21 and then for one room on 4/22?Are there four of your sharing the room at the Embassy Suites and that is why you need two rooms for that nite (if you bid) and then some people are going home so you only need one room for Sunday nite?Since price is a factor, would you consider staying in Jersey City? What appears to be the Hyatt is available thru HOTWIRE. Search for 2adults/2children (and be 'smart' at check-in by not having all four adults go up to the check-in desk) to ensure that you'll get a room with two beds... just $166/nite and PATH train at the doorstep will have you to downtown Manhattan in 8 minutes (midtown in 18 minutes)Let us know your thoughts on the above and please use our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase if you happen to move forward before posting (and a reminder for anyone else reading that we're also an affiliate of the Embassy Suites) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Gater1848 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 Sounds like a good tip. Thanks! We will consider that....I would like to be in Midtown...but we will see. I'm guessing that we may change hotels on Sunday
thereuare Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 What about the questions we asked? (as this will be able to help us search for options for you):So if i interpret the above correctly you want to try for 2 rooms for 4/21 and then for one room on 4/22?Are there four of your sharing the room at the Embassy Suites and that is why you need two rooms for that nite (if you bid) and then some people are going home so you only need one room for Sunday nite? Gater1848 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 I think I am good now. I got a room with 2 queens for Saturday for $305 and a room with 1 Queen for Sunday for $140 at the Washington Jefferson.I'm thinking that I couldn't do much better than that on Priceline. Would you agree? Thanks for all of you help!
thereuare Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Glad you found something you're happy with.I would have played it a bit differently... for 4/21 i would have stayed in Jersey City as it's reallly just an extra subway ride to a point in the city. For $106 (quad occupancy) it's worth the $200 savings (imo). As well, i think you had a good chance at getting two rooms for $75/each... making it a more comfortable stay and more than $150 savings vs. your current booking. Even if you took a taxi home one nite for $35-$40 you'd still be way ahead of the game (enough to pay for dinner one nite). For 4/22 i would have moved and stayed in the city as there should be plenty of rooms available at $140 or less.
