jumpeddie Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I am planning a 3-day trip to Las Vegas in April: Arrive Friday the 20th and depart on Sunday the 22nd. I would like to stay at the Venetian and was hoping for some help on a bidding strategy. The published rate on Venetian.com is $499Thanks all!
photomikey Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Because of a large convention, this will be a very busy week in Vegas. Some (or, many) of the strip hotels are completely sold out on Saturday night. I think it would be difficult to get a 4* or 5* on the strip at very much of a discount. I doubt you'd see the Venetian show up on Priceline at all, but if you did, I'm afraid it'd be rather high.I ended up staying slightly off strip (Alexis Park) for my stay the previous weekend. $100/night+taxes & fees.Best of luck.
thereuare Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm assuming this is a 2nite/3day stay? With rates direct from the Veneitian at nearly $500 i woudln't expect too much of a discount... what is your maximum bid for this stay? jumpeddie Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 I was hoping to get it for under $300.
thereuare Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I would be very surprised if you could be successful for that price on these dates.Rates are indicative of high demand at this property, so if they're able to sell a lot of rooms on their own at high rates, why should they offer any inventory (or deeply discounted inventory) to the opaque suppliers?Do you want to try and see what happens, if not successful, will you purchase direct or do you have any preferences for a 4 star property? thereuare Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I was more so refering to your budget for a 4*.If you're going to bid on priceline at the 4* level the Westin is a possibility, as it is in priceline's strip zone... although slightly off the strip; is this acceptable to you? (if not we'll seek out other options) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jumpeddie Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 I am mostly interested in a strip hotel such as the MGM, Luxor, Paris, NYNY, or Monte Carlo. Thanks so much for the quick responses.

jumpeddie Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 Well, I do not want to stay in a 3*. So, can I ask what would be appropriate in order to land a 4* for that weekend? I can be flexible. Location is somewhat more important than cost. Thanks again,JG
thereuare Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 For a 4* property i'd think you're probably looking well into the $200's for these dates (for which i probably don't need to tell you rates are very high).I did find the Westin for just $185/nite, which is slightly off strip but very close by (close enough that Priceline includes it in their "strip" zone... although this causes some to not bid the area). For the price i think this is your best bet (silly pun intended :) ) The Aladdin is also avaiable for $273/nite (and for the $100 savings i would sooner go with the Westin). Both of these are cancellable up until a few days before your stay (although this doesn't leave you much time) so you could book in order to make sure you have something acceptable and then continue to try the opaque providers and/or see if rates come down a bit.If price is really not as much of a factor as location, you can use our Las Vegas Checker to easily check rates at multiple properties. The Luxor (which i'm not a fan fo the location) can be had for $305/nite :) and NYNY is available for $340. The Monte Carlo comes in at ~$350/nite but i have heard reports of lots of construction in that immediate area and for the price the others are a better option (imo).
