Outcold Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Lollapalooza is being held Aug 3rd-5th in Grant Park so I am looking to book as soon as possible. Looking at the board the bids vary for this area and I don't want to start too low and have to choose a different area. I am looking to see what you think I should start at for this time frame. Do you think I should try to bid now or wait until it is closer? I was thinking now would be the best time. I am also not familiar with ths area and was wondering what my second area option should be if I have to choose a 2nd area. Thank you in advance.
Outcold Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 I also did a regular priceline to get an idea of the rates and 4* are at $229 - 3* $149
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I'd book quickly, as rooms are filling up for these dates. What is your max per night and are you staying all of 8/3-8? How many in your party?
Outcold Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 I would be looking to stay from the 3rd thru the 5th. Just looking for one room. I do not want to go over $100 per if possible.
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I think you're going to have to bid at your max for 4* (then 3* if that doesn't work) (as I don't think that rooms for these dates are going to be available for much less than $100, if at all under $100), first in the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area (the area closest to Lollapalooza), then if that doesn't work, the River North/North Michigan Ave. area. Lollapalooza takes up a LOT of rooms, and I'm doubtful that Priceline will have much inventory for these dates.
thereuare Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Given the likely high demand for these dates how about the Whitehall Hotel for $108/nite (there's no booking fee so just $1 more than a $100 priceline bid after fees are considered)... but best of all this is cancellable up until a day before your check-in date so you can continue to try the opaque providers. (the Tremont is also avaialble for $112/nite)Do either of these work for you? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 In the case of the above, would definitely go with Whitehall over Tremont. Both are located in the North Michigan Ave. area, but the Whitehall - while not stellar - is much nicer than the Tremont. The Tremont refunded another Better Bidding user a week or two ago after they could not guarantee her a room without mold. Tells you a lot about the hotel.
