When I bid originally, this was a 4 star hotel (I have a hard copy that shows Priceline was advertising it as such). When I arrived, the room was not 4 star quality (or 3 star for that matter). I discussed this with the front desk staff and they informed the manager. I have since received a letter from the hotel stating it is a 3 star hotel. When I contacted Priceline about the discrepancy, they told me they would cancel the remainder of the stay and give me a refund for the unused nights.

Since I had very little time or resources to devote to this offer, I declined and asked for another option. I was told this was my only option.

I have also noticed that they have changed the star rating to 3 on their site, so that when I look at the details, it now states that it is a 3 star hotel.

What are my rights in this matter?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I would write Priceline another letter (but start from scratch, i wouldn't reference a previous letter) and explain to them that you "...just returned from your 4 star win at the Metropolitan and were disappointed with your stay as the accomodations were not deserving of a 4 star property. As well, when you now look at your winning bid confirmation online you see that the hotel is currently rated 3 stars. Therefore, you don't feel that you got what you bargained for as your bid amount was on the assumption that you would receive 4 star quality accomodations... and you received a hotel which upon the completion of your stay is only rate 3 stars".

Let us know how the above letter goes and their response.

Good Luck.
