AndyG Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I'm looking for 3 hotel rooms for 5/6 to 5/9. I have tried priceline but not having any luck. Any ideas. We wanted 4 star in Midtown east and I'm bidding in low 200 now. any help would be great. seems like hotels are expensive during thst time frame
thereuare Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Do you have to stay in MTE? We often advise users that NYC is so compact, and mass transit cheap and readily available, that most midtown zones usually work well for the average visitor. If this is the area you want, how above a Studio Suite ($194/nite) or 1BR Suite ($214/nite) at the Beekman Tower... it's in the MTE zone and gets very good reviews. Does that work for your plans?Let us know your thoughts and/or what you end up doing, or if we can be of further help. AndyG Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 what other areas would you recommend? I did look at some hotels the paramount and the rooms are so small that I did not want to take a chance on them. Is there anything going on that week as most 4 * hotels are in 400 range or is that normal?
thereuare Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 what other areas would you recommend?MTW, UM/CPS... although based upon user reports i'm a big fan of the Beekman Tower so i don't know if i'd pay much more than their rate to stay elsewhere.I did look at some hotels the paramount and the rooms are so small that I did not want to take a chance on them. The Paramount is a 3* hotel so not really an apples-to-apples comparison, but NYC hotel rooms are notoriously small. Did you have any thoughts on the Beekman Tower? If room size is a concern this may be a good solution for you as it's run by the Affinia Group, who take apartment buildings and then convert them to hotels... so each room is a former NYC apartment (which are also notoriously small), but at least you know it's "livable". The 1BR suite is a true suite with separate Living room and Bedroom, and also has a kitchen (although it's a "nyc kitchen", which also means it's functional but not what you may be expecting)Is there anything going on that week as most 4 * hotels are in 400 range or is that normal? It's Springtime in NYC... so it's not uncommon to see hotel rates in the high $300's and low $400's. As well, the dollar has been weak, meaning that nyc (and the rest of the United States) has become a bit more 'affordable' lately.Note that EasyClickTravel only gets a limited number of rooms at the Beekman Tower at their pre-contracted rate. As your reservation is cancellable up until a few days before your stay... you may want to book this as a back-up (especially since you need 3 rooms) and then you can try to better your deal as you get closer to your stay. AndyG Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 what do you think it will take to get an accepted bid for 4* hotel in New York for 5/6 - 5/9
AndyG Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 $250 with no luck for MTE, MTW, UM/CPS

AndyG Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 We might do that as it is 215 a night. did you have any other ideas or recommendations....something tells me it probably will not cheaper longer we wait
thereuare Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 It could get cheaper... it could also get more expensive! :) See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.The great thing about the Beekman Tower is that it's refundable up until a few days before your stay... but EasyClickTravel only gets a limited number of rooms at this rate, which is why you want to lock it in now. If rates go up your protected... if they go down, you can continue to try the opaque providers (up until a few days before your stay) in order to try to better your deal. However, at the moment i do believe this is your best deal.Last i checked (yesterday) they did have 2 rooms available at the lower Studio Suite, if somebody doesn't want the extra room a 1BR suite provides and is on a tighter budget. Please use our Beekman Tower link to begin your reservations (ie- if you do make two separate purchases (for Studio Suites and 1BR Suites, please use our link for the first purchase, and return here and click the link again to begin the second purchase).
