jerryfan Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Was checking out priceline and in their hotel listings, they had Bond Place as a 2.5*. Has it been downgraded? Is it safe to bid 3* for Dtwn Toronto without getting this "hotel"? Any info? Thanks
thereuare Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! What are the date(s) of your stay? Is this the same date(s) you saw the Bond Place at 2.5 stars for thru priceline's retail product? jerryfan Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 The dates are 4/13-4/15 and, yes, priceline has the Bond as a 2.5* at $86 per night for those dates.
thereuare Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 It would seem to be the case that the Bond Place is now a 2.5*, although i do know of one instance where a hotel was upgraded in the 'name your own price' product but it had not yet been done in the 'retail' product... the user didn't want this hotel but received it on his bid; Priceline refused to cancel/refund the reservation. The hotel was upgraded a few days later in the retail product, but the user's stay had already occurred. So i would say it would seem logical that this hotel is now 2.5* in both areas, but if there is a delay downgrading this property in the opaque service, history suggests you won't be successful in complaining about it.HOTWIRE is still an option as well as you can probably likely figure out the hotel beforehand, or at the very least, avoid a hotel you dont' want to receive. If you do decide to bid this stay let us know if we can help with a bidding strategy. Please update us with whatever you end up doing for this stay. jerryfan Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 Didn't want to risk Bond--so bid 4*--got Sutton Place for $65, which is getting sketchy reviews as well.
