Priceline Hotel: NYC 4* 7/6-7/11

I appreciate any help members are willing to share. I am new to this forum.

I am looking for a 4* in any area but downtown (MW, ME, MS, UM-CPS) per suggestion on this forum, as I am a 2nd time tourist to Manhattan.

Can you suggest a strategy please? UES and UWS are my free bidding zones.

It is early to start looking but ....At what point would you bid this stay in two parts?

What is a typical winning bid in July for Manhattan at a 4*? I am thinking $150...but willing to go higher is necessary.

There are usually dates which are exceptions to the rule, but NYC is usually inexpensive (on a relative basis) in the summer.

It is too early to start thinking about SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID as i don't think it's going to be necessary as i'm already seeing things that (imo) are acceptable (and that you should use as cancellable back-ups).

As far as bidding, this is how i would proceed at this point, using your two re-bid zones.

Select 4* MTW...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTE...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* UM/CPS...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTS...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTW and MTE...

If the above fails (quite possible at this point) i would stop there and book either of the following back-ups:

Beekman Tower Studio Suite for $153/nite

Eastgate Tower thru Quikbook for $161/nite (average rate... NOTE: after searching on Quikbook list the rates by price, lowest-->highest... there is one list for the Eastgate tower which is cancellable, another further down the list which is PrePay/NoCancel/NoChange)

If for some reason neither of the above are acceptable for your plans we'll suggest a strategy to bid higher at this point in time, otherwise i wouldn't raise my bid until closer to your check-in date.

Is the Beekman tower, which I assume you know is the "off the record" selection @EasyClickTravel, refundable....as is the Eastgate Tower? Thanks....Carol

Yes, the Beekman Tower is cancellable up until a few days before your stay (2-3 days, i forget which). If you click the previous link, and run a search for your dates, next to the price click the 'view facilities and pricing info', and you'll see the cancellation policy (which is poorly written, but if it says 48/72 hours, you have until before that time to cancel your reservation without penalty). Quikbook reservations are cancellable as long as they are "pay when you stay" rate (vs. the "prepay" or "no change/no cancel/no refund" rates)
