Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* Las Vegs (Strip) MGM Grand

Got this on hotwire, and submited a DD request. On Expedia, the lowest rates on those dates were $84 for Emerald Tower and $104 for Grand Tower. Hotwire responded by refunding me $44. They told me that the room I got from hotwire is in Grand Tower. So this is just a partially successful deal.

Regarding the Double the Difference Guarantee, I would question this with them...

Rooms are booked at the 'standard' level and in this instance that would be the Emerald Tower.

Maybe send them an email first (from account other than the one on file with them) and ask them "If there are multiple classes of standard rooms at a property, which type does Hotwire book: cheapest, middle, most expensive"?

Or you could call up MGM and tell them that you have 'won' their hotel on Hotwire... which tower will i be in? (this second method may be the better route to take first as if you're told Emerald then you can really pursue it)

This is the first time i have seen Hotwire 'wiggle' in their DD Guarantee :)

In accordance with Hotiwire's star rating for the MGM Grand, all guests

are booked into the Grand Tower, rather than the Emerald Tower. The lowest

non-qualified rates for the Grand Tower on your dates of stay is

$104.00.

For your review, I have pasted below the portion of the Double the

Difference Guarantee Terms and Conditions that explains how we compare

rates and calculate the refund amount.

All comparisons will be made between Hotwire's aggregate rate for the

customer's entire stay before taxes and booking fees on the one hand

and the hotel's aggregate published pre-tax rates for each night of the

customer's stay on the other. For Hotwire hotel rates, the rate that will be used

for comparison will be the first rate displayed to the customer after the

customer chooses his or her preferences multiplied by the number of

room nights the customer has purchased. For other hotel rates, the rate that

will be used for comparison will be the lowest qualifying published pre-tax

rate available for each night of the customer's stay.

Well in this instance i applaud Hotwire for not assigning their customers to the lowest quality rooms.
