Hi All! New to the board and the bidding process. I recently used Priceline to get Hilton NYC on March 3rd for a very incredible rate of $110! With that bolstering my confidence, I have a friend coming in to NYC from 3/22 - 3/25 and thought that I might be able to get some of the same rates. No luck so far :) .

I am looking to spend up to $180 a night, but would like a 4* or 3*. I went to undergrad in NYC, but now live upstate so I am not looking for a tourist experience. I don't mind staying outside of midtown, although for my friend's sake that would still be preferrable. I have been trying priceline for the past couple of days trying to get something to work, but nothing so far. Any suggestions? Ideally I want to be spending about $140/night.

Thanks very much!

Hi!

I have bid up to $160 for a 4* in all midtown zones, but nothing beyond that. I have also bid up to $150 for a 3* in all midtown zones. I have a reservation pending at Eastgate tower hotel, but I through HOTWIRE, but I am pretty sure those dates aren't available. Is there any reason that this time period is especially busy?

Why don't you wait to hear from EasyClickTravel regarding the Eastgate Tower and we'll take it from... may be little point in pursuing other avenues if they're able to come thru for you (although like you, i'd say the chances are more unlikely than likely that they'll be able to get additional rooms).

I checked the status with EasyClickTravel this morning and it says soldout for the Eastgate towers. I am starting to get very nervous as I have a friend flying in from Asia on Thursday and still no accomodations. I would say my max would now be $200 for any 3* or 4* in midtown. Is this even possible? It seems that many places are sold out this weekend. Thanks very much for the help, I truly appreciate it!

Both my requests at EasyClicktravel were rejected (Helmsley and Eastgate Towers). I was also thinking about splitting the bid so that the first night we were at one place and the next night at another. A bit of a hassle, but at this point I am desperate. She is flying into Newark and I am driving down from upstate NY.

Earlier today what appeared to be the Jersey City Hyatt was available for $124/nite... but now has jumped to $299 :)

I would consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and trying priceline for the first nite in Jersey City (if that's acceptable to you). If successful, it would then also free up a little bit of your budget to apply towards the balance of your stay.

If that is an option let us know, we'll suggest a strategy to try for Jersey City and some ideas for the balance of your stay.
