riphamilton Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 First of all, let me say that I'm thrilled I found this site. You guys definitely know what you're talking about.Me and 2 of my buddies (3 total) decided to spend our spring break seeing our favorite baseball teams in Florida. I'm from Connecticut, but I know Central/South Florida pretty well.... I've always just stayed with friends, but since we're a group of 3 I don't want to inconvenience anybody. I have no idea about hotels. Low price is the dominant consideration.... we're just sleeping at the hotels. It doesn't matter if it's only 1 bed; we'll each sleep on the floor 1 night. We're landing in Fort Laud at noon 3/27, and then renting a car to head to the first game, which is a night game in Viera (right next to Melbourne). The next night's game will be in Tampa, so I'd prefer to spend the night of the 27th in Melbourne/Cocoa so that we can beach it in the AM. However, we are doing this whole thing with the aim of cutting all costs, so I would consider staying in Orlando/Kissimmee or anywhere else along 528/I-4 if it will save >$30.Following Tampa, we're heading down to Fort Meyers. Again, it's flexible where we're willing to stay. Basically any hotel along the I-75 corridor; a beach and something to do (read: bars) nearby is a definite plus. Our last night will be spent in Fort Lauderdale; near the airport would be a plus since we have a 9am flight; but I know Dania & Hollywood really, really well so I wouldn't have an issue with being there, especially along A1A.Here's the rundown....3/27: Melbourne/Cocoa or Orlando/Kissimmee3/28: Tampa to Fort Meyers, along I-753/29: Fort Laud/Dania.... Near FLL Airport a plusAny help, suggestions, or especially ballpark priceline/hotwire bids you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding... we're glad you found us too :)To keep things straight, and so that we can reflect the hotel won in the topic title of each thread, please use separate threads for each stay. So we'll use this thread to advise on your 3/27: Melbourne/Cocoa or Orlando/Kissimmee stay. With the zones you say are ok for this nite... Kissimme in the Orlando region is the only zone within Orlando that you're willing/able to accept (what about the zones within Cocoa Beach-Merritt Island)? What is the minimum star rating you'll accept? What is the maximum bid for this nite of your stay?Let us know the above and we'll advise further. riphamilton Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 Sounds good.... so this is 1 night, 3/27 in Melbourne/Cocoa (+Beach)/Merritt Island.... or alternatively Kissimmee, Orlando, MCO Airport; if price warrants. As long as it's close to 528 (Beach Line expwy) or I-4 it works.Minimum 2*, max bid $50 inclusive of all taxes/fees. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Melbourne/Cocoa (+Beach)/Merritt Island.... or alternatively Kissimmee, Orlando, MCO AirportUnfortunately i'm still having trouble understadning exactly which zones you're willing to accept. If you enter Melbourne, FL into the search box you're given the following zones:Melbourne, FLMelbourneNorth MelbourneIf you enter Cocoa Beach, FL into the search box you're given the following zones:Cocoa Beach - Merritt IslandCocoaCocoa BeachMerritt IslandTitusvilleIf you enter Orlando, FL into the search box you're given the following zones:OrlandoDisneyDowntown OrlandoKissimmeeeMaitland-Altamonte SpringsAirport MCOOrlando EastSand LakeUniversal StuidosWest DisneyWinter GardernWinter ParkWhy don't you list your regions (Melbourne, Cocoa Beach-Merritt Island, and Orlando) as i have done (underline them) and under each list the zones within that area you're willing to accept. This will avoid any confusion and we'll then be able to best advise a strategy to follow. Also, what is your maximum bid amount (before taxes and fees). riphamilton Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 nothing worked, even up to $65. i've ben trying for the past week. i got a room in titusville at the best western space shuttle inn on EasyClickTravel for $55.45 with tax, and free breakfast. i'm going to keep trying because on another website people insist that the 3* rialto hilton in melbourne is giving rates of $50 on priceline, but looks like it's going to be titusville.
