Looking for a 3* or better 3/26-4/1, would prefer in the Downtown/White House or Convention Center area for convenience to area attractions. (Smithsonian, Capitol Hill, White House International Spy Museum, etc). I am hoping to be able to walk, take the metro, or hotel shuttles to most of these places as I would rather spend more for a hotel than cab fare. Hoping to spend less than 150.00 a night. Any suggestions are appretiated.

Thanks, Gutterman

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you've searched for rates already i'm sure you've found that these are very expensive dates to be in Washington DC.

Do you have a back-up hotel yet? We'll suggest a strategy for you to follow, but as i'm a little doubtful of your success up to $150, i first looked to see if there was anything reasonable available thru other sources.

I did find the Holiday Inn on the Hill for $166/nite (which is over $100+ less per nite than directly at the Holiday Inn website). They only get a limited number of rooms at this price, and since this is cancellable up until a few days before your stay, unless you have a better back-up reservation someplace you may want to book this in case you are unsuccessful with priceline (or HOTWIRE)

Does that work for a back-up or do you have something better in mind?

Once we have figured out the "price to beat" we'll suggest a bidding strategy to follow. As well, since this does appear to be difficult dates, would you also want to include another area (such as Dupont Circle-Woodley Park) or does this area not work well for your needs?

Let us know and we'll advise on how to proceed.
