Nervous Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 I am new at this whole Hotwire/Priceline thing and am extremely nervous about taking a leap of faith and booking a hotel this way. My husband and I haven't been on an "alone" trip since our honeymoon 4 years ago and I don't want to mess it up!This is what is available for purchase... 4 * Downtown San Antonio/Riverwalk for March 25-28. 169/night. Amentities include fitness, business center, pool, laundry, internetAny ideas? Any way to get a hotel right on the riverwalk and not across the street? Any help is appreciated!
thereuare Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Crowne Plaza so that would be our best guess.I don't know the area so i don't know if this property is directly on the Riverwalk or not, but the hotel you receive can be anywhere within the shanded region as defined by the Priceline/HOTWIRE boundary. Although i feel 'reasonably confident' with the guess above, you can never be 100% certain of the hotel you will receive (as we can't see the name either :)).However, with this selection the price doesn't seem too great. If this is the hotel you wanted you could book it here directly from the Crowne Plaza website for $180/nite. Given that HOTWIRE will add a booking fee (approximately $6/nite) to the price above, you're only looking at about a $5/nite savings by booking this property thru HOTWIRE (which most would agree is not worth the 'risk' of an opaque purchase). However, i've found this for you :) :Crowne Plaza Riverwalk for $93/nite and this does seem like a very good deal.Does this work for your plans/needs? Nervous Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 Thanks!I too had "looked" into it and didn't think it seemed like much of a deal. We are interested in being closer to the action and would prefer to stay somewhere we can't stay here at home.I'll keep trying...
Nervous Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Posted March 9, 2007 Hi... I found this on Hotwire today. It didn't match any of the ones on the list! Thanks!!4* San Antonio Downtown/ Riverwalk March 25-28 $179/nightAmenities...Boutique HotelFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The above is a match for the Sheraton Gunter so that would be our best guess. (avaialble thru the Sheraton website for just a few dollars more... please use the previous link in if you decide to book direct).I don't know the area that well, but i would take another look at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk. The hotel looks nice and the description states that restaurants and the Riverwalk are right outside the doors of the hotel... is this not in the 'center' of the Riverwalk? Even if it's a short walk (or $5 cab ride) to the heart of the Riverwalk, at only $93/nite and with nearly $100 savings over your other options, that would certainly be a nice start to some money that could be spent elsewhere in town to make this stay 'special' (ie- spend the savings on an extra special dinner, a nice bottle of wine, or whatever else you enjoy doing)... i could certainly make $300 over 3 nites go a long way :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
