MJRBIM Posted March 13, 2004 Author Report Posted March 13, 2004 It's a Boutique - not a 4* Just spent two good nights at "ARC - The Hotel" on a PL bid of $69 (US) per night. It's a cool, trendy hotel that is almost identical to the BENTLEY HOTEL on the upper east side in NYC. It's a converted office building, and yup the rooms are small - but amenities are great.Had a few drinks in the lounge, great room service, and a really good meal in the restaurant. As has been mentioned, the staff are young and hip - but without the attitude that you find at boutique hotels in NYC and LA.Valet Parking at $18 (CDN) and in-room wired highspeed at $9.95 (CDN) per day, both seem like pretty good deals for this range of hotel. However, I do think it's misrated as a 4* - large rooms, pool, 24 hour room service, wireless highspeed - I would expect all of those things at a 4*. "ARC - The Hotel" is a Boutique hotel and should be rated as such. If it were classed as a Boutique - this review would be a Rave...That being said - when I want to indulge a little and spend more than I do on the Radisson or the Crowne Plaza, I would bid for "ARC - The Hotel" again.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Thanks for the re-cap.Are you saying that the hotel is Boutique-like or does Priceline actually rate this Boutique rather than 4*? (if you're unsure, you can confirm this by looking at your previousl winning bids thru Priceline's page)THANKS! MJRBIM Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 PriceLine rates "ARC - The Hotel" as a 4*, but it's not - it should be in the BOUTIQUE category.
Randi66 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I stayed at The ARC in Ottawa way back in July of 2002. At that time it was rated as a 5 star and we got it for 40 per night. We thought it was a fantastic deal.I loved the little touches. 300 tread count sheets, godiva chocolate, starbucks coffe, in room CD players, fresh orchids in the room. The rooms were somewhat small, but it was the MOST comfortable hotel bed Ive ever slept on( and Ive slept on a lot of them). Happy Travelling, Randi
