Priceline Hotel: 3* Newark (Jersey City) Hyatt Regency on the Hudson

I read up on how to bid both here and on tripadvisor.

I first went to check the price at Hotwire. They displayed a $104 dollar rate.

I then went on priceline and bidded $69

It was accepted first bid.

The hotel was in a very good location and next door to the path train which takes you to the World Trade Center Subway Station. Our room had a beautiful view of Manhattan.

Let me warn you, you may pay a low nightly rate but everything in the hotel is still fairly expensive

$32 parking (2 nights)

$10 Martini (I think I saw up to $16 for some drinks)

$10 per night internet (2 nights)

The bar serves food late. We came back from a play in NYC and ordered at the bar (in lieu of room service). Ordered Calamari appetizer, basil tomato pizza, bottled water and diet coke in a cup came out to $32.99. The pizza was good but a little greasy (I blotted it with several paper towels)

The Calamari were ok...not much taste but the sauce was good.

Total spent ~$85 X 2 nights (with taxes) and 127 on incidentials total $297...not too bad for a weekend getaway. It would have been $280 (with taxes at the Residence Inn at the Meadowlands which is not as convenient but does come with free internet and comp breakfast...but no view of Manhattan)

Overall I was very satisfied with everything...Except the parking...Its $32 per night and valed but apparently the lot is outside as evidenced by the snow that was on top of the vehicle when we picked it up. The attendant didn't bother to clean off the snow on the top of the car. Fiance did it but we were not happy because for $32 plus tip either they should have parked it in a garage or attendant should have cleaned it off. Manager was nearby. He looked but did not say anything.
