portlago Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 2 rooms, bid starting at $60, increased $5 each time. The first time $80 was not accepted, but 10 minutes later I started a new session, forgot I had already bid $80 and bid it again and bid was accepted.I didn't see the Silversmith Hotel on the Chicago Hotels list, so this must have been newly added. It's for my parents when they come visit me, so I'll give a review of it after the visit. The location seems great though, right on the edge of the loop. Hotel website has pictures and it looks beautiful.
AaronJB Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Now that the Silversmith is no longer owned by Crowne Plaza (it was bought up a week or so ago), it may start showing up on PL. Definitely a good location and a historic property (w/landmark status; it was designed by the famed firm of D. H. Burnham and Company.) The hotel is a short walk to the Art Institute and Millennium Park. Michigan Ave. shopping and the Museum Campus are a further walk, but not terrible if it's a nice day.
