Priceline Hotel: Need help on Strategy for 5* Las Vegas Strip (Venetian) 4/6/07-4/8/07

Hello,

I could use some help from those more experienced with Priceline in Vegas.

I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas on April 6th, 2007 for 2 nights (departing April 8th). The lowest rate I could find is $199 for the first night and $219 for the second night for the Venezia Bella Suite.

What should I start my bidding at? $99?

Is it pretty much guaranteed that I'll get the Venetian? I've read the FAQ on Vegas and that's what it sounds like to me.

There will be 6 of us staying and so we'll require 2 queen beds. Will this be an issue?

Is there any chance of getting a room in the Venezia Tower through Priceline?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what you're reading, but if you look at the top of the Priceline Hotel List i think it says exactly the opposite.

Yes, on many counts.

1) Priceline only guarantees double occupancy

2) six people in a standard suite is clearly over the occupancy limit (if you try booking such on the Venetian's website you can only select up to four adults... if you try 4adults/2children you'll receive a message that occupancy exceeds what is allowed for a suite)

3) bedding type is not guaranteed

See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for a further discussion of occupancy and bedding issues.

Unless you're able to change your occupancy/number of rooms i don't think the opaque providers are going to be the best option for this stay (and i'd also suggest looking at our Las Vegas Checker)

If you're able to be flexible on the occupancy issue, and you're willing to accept any 5* hotel in the zone (and not just the Venetian), then post back with your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. If not, let us know your maximum budget and we'll try to find your best 'non-opaque' deal.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. The answers you provided were pretty much reiterations of what has been stated in other places and I'm sorry you had to take the time to spell that out for me. That's actually not what I was looking for, as I understood all of those points before I made my post. I'll try to rephrase my questions.

Although I understand NOTHING is GUARANTEED, has anyone received a hotel other than the Venetian when bidding for a 5* hotel on the Vegas Strip?

I also understand that the official occupancy for the Venetian suite is 4 adults. That being said, it's very common for more than 4 adults to share one of these rooms. The reason I mentioned that there will be 6 of us is because that will require us to have a room with 2 queen beds + 1 sofa bed. Thus bringing me to the bedding issue. Thank you for reminding me that Priceline only guarantees double occupancy and does not guarantee bedding. In your experience, is there a good chance of getting a room with 2 queen beds during check-in (considering that the Venetian rates for those dates are $199 and $219)?

It is the only 5* hotel reported here on the board.

I'd disagree... it may be very common for up to quad occupancy, but i don't think it's very common at all for more than that.

I can't comment on your chances, but when available, the Venetian has been known to charge an additional fee for rooms with 2 queen beds (which they're entitled to do... i don't recall exactly but i think it was along the lines of $30/nite) as well as additional charges for occupancy more than double.
