Brahmama Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I would like to know which 4* Hotels are coming up for May in Dupont, Capitol Hill, or White House? We are staying 6 nights, but think that splitting is the way to go, since the first 3 nights are weekend nights.I prefer the Palomar but didn't see much reference to it in May.Thanks.

Brahmama Posted February 17, 2007 Author Report Posted February 17, 2007 Yes, I had already read all the Hotel Reviews for the areas we are interested in. I was just wondering which ones were popping up for May (I have lurked for years and noticed that people have commented that such and such a hotel seemed to be comiing up a lot.) However, it is a bit early for May.I copied off the strategy that you gave a previous poster that was interested in the same areas - and we had the same bid limit! When I do start bidding, I will post on here and give all the details. Thanks for your help.Carol
thereuare Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 Rates, and therefore strategies, are date specific... so it's not usually recommended to follow a strategy for somebody else whose dates are different than you own; it can lead to wasted bids... or worse, and overbid. Brahmama Posted February 18, 2007 Author Report Posted February 18, 2007 Ok, I would appreciate a bidding strategy for May 18 through May 23. (Leaving May 24)We would like either Dupont or White House and our max bid is $125. (I hope that is realistic for May)We are seniors and hoping not to have to split the bid & move after 3 nights, but will if we need to. Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I think this is going to be a tough win... whether you split the bid or not. When bidding 4* in Washington DC you have four re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Convention Center...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Dupont Circle...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* White House-Downtown...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Convention Center and Dupont Circle...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Convention Center and Whilte House...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Convention Center and White House and Dupont Circle...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125.I do realized that you have four re-bid zones but i have only used three above, that was intentional. I have also gone up to $125 (although your budget was $120 as i do think you'll probably get this far in your bidding and that point it may be worth trying the extra $5... but you're certainly free to stop short of bidding $125 if you don't want to go that high)Any questions feel free to askGood Luck and let us know how it goes.
