I am looking at a 4* in Las Vegas for Saturday 03/03 thru Tuesday 03/06. I was wondering what I should start the bidding at? I was looking for the central strip area. I already have a room reserved at harrahs for $345 for those 3 nights but I was hoping I could find something cheaper thru priceline. I tried to bid $80 a night for a 4*and didn't have any luck. Would it be a good idea to try a 3* hotel as well? What type of hotels would I get if I try to get a 3* hotel? Thanks in advance for any help or advice. This is my first time trying this. Thanks.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

A saturday nite check-in can often be a problem in Vegas... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

HOTWIRE has a 4* Central Strip for $149/nite (best guess the Aladdin) or for less you could also get the Westin for $100/nite.

Let us know your thoughts on the above properties and how you'd like to proceed.

So by splitting my priceline bid I would bit just on the saturday night thru hotwire and then use priceline for the sunday and monday night? But I see what you are saying in that if I did that then I might get the Aladdin on saturday night thru hotwire and then get a different hotel on sunday and monday if I go thru priceline.

The HOTWIRE and Westin links above are for hotels for your complete stay.

The idea of splitting your bid is to improve upon those rates... but you may (likely) have to change properties during your stay. We weren't suggesting to use any specific booking service for Saturday and a different booking service for Sunday and Monday at this point. If you're intersted/willing to split the stay and change hotels then we'll pursue it further, but otherwise i think the links above (please use them if move forward for the complete stay) are your best offers at this point without splitting your bid.

Of course you can try to beat the above prices on Priceline, but in order to determine a bidding strategy you need to first determine a maximum bid, so if the Westin is a viable solution for you then you'd want to cap your bid at less than $100 (and even less considering the previous Westin link has no booking fee, so you'd need to deduct that amount from your maximum bid to evaluate your total cost).
