luvs2speed365 Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Hubby and I are embarking on our first cruise in September on the Navigator. This was my first use of Priceline and after reading and reading all the helpful hints, I decided to give it a shot. We wanted a 3* hotel in South Beach because we're getting down a day early - never been to Miami. I had in mind that I was not going to go over $65, especially at this early stage. There are only two zones that don't offer 3*. First bids were Monday, Feb. 2: bid $60, rebid at $65, adding zone. Rejected. No problem, it's still early.Today - Feb. 5, I decided to try again. Same scenario, only I tried the alternate zone at $65 and WON the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza. :) The total for the room with taxes and fees is $80.29. I compared prices for this hotel on its own website ($164), lodging.com ($169), Orbitz ($191), and placestostay.com ($274). I'm happy with the win. :)
thereuare Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win.I have stayed at this property and have written a review in our HOTEL REVIEW section. The price you got is fantastic and the location is very good!I think that you were upgraded to a 4* hotel with this win (Priceline no longer indicates upgrades so we'll only know if people start winning this hotel at the 3* level after getting rejected at similar prices at the 4* level)Thanks for reporting your win to the board! thereuare Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Indeed still a 4*, as it was just won HERE at the 4* level.By the way, as an FYI this hotel charges a $12 Resort fee per room (just so you're prepared for it) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
luvs2speed365 Posted February 6, 2004 Author Report Posted February 6, 2004 Thanks for the heads-up about the resort fee! It still brings the rate down below what I thought we would have to pay.
