deperatelyfabulous Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I want to bid on a resort, 4* or 3* hotel for 2/21-2/24I've already bid up to $80 on all three hotel classes. The only area I'm willing to consider is SoBe.Does anyone have any bidding strategy that may work? Bid a bit later? My max. would be $100 per night.
thereuare Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Your chance of success for a 3* hotel for these dates with a $100 maximum bid is probably not a high probability bet. Hopefully you can prove me wrong, and to give it a try you can attempt the following:When bidding 3* in Miami you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* South Beach...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* South Beach and re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. deperatelyfabulous Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 I bid with all my re-bids and still nothing. I knew that $100 would not be enough, so I went up to $135 and still rejected. I can't spend more since I had to lower my rental car to compact to afford the $135 bid.How should I proceed? Try to break up the dates or wait to bid a bit closer to the travel date?Used the link for my bidding.
thereuare Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 You can choose to wait or to try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but most likely you'll need to lower your star rating (which in South Beach can be a bit 'iffy').Have you looked at EasyClickTravel? deperatelyfabulous Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 Well I broke up the bid.I got the Royal Palm for $125 02/21-02/22I'm still looking for the other days, although I may give up trying to get the Friday (02/24) since most places appear to be sold out for that date.
thereuare Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Thanks for the post. Can you confirm/clarify that your winning bid was only for one nite?Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
