genechien Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Rates for MGM and Mandalay Bay are approximately $230 per night. I've never bid for Vegas before. What's the possibilty of getting the Venetian for the same price or less?
thereuare Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Please note as per our support page that we are affilate of both the MGM Grand as well as the Mandalay Bay (as well as all other MGM Mirage properties)Rates at the Venetian are $299/nite for yoru dates and we don't typically see $200 acceptances when rates are that high (doesn't hurt to try though if you'd like to). If you're a gambler (you are going to Vegas, right?) you can look at the 5* on HOTWIRE for $399/nite... if that is the Venetian you can purchase that and then apply for the Double the Difference Guarantee... bringing your rate down to $199 (of course, no guarantees :) ).Let us know how you want to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. If you do try the above Double the Difference, please use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase. genechien Posted January 31, 2007 Author Report Posted January 31, 2007 I'm tempted to try the Double the Difference technique however Hotwire is currently listing the *5 for $366 per night, instead of $399. The one time I don't want them to lower their prices :) Anyways, assuming I book through Hotwire ($793.78 which includes taxes and fees) and get the Double the Difference ($366-$299=$67, $67 x 2 nights=$134), my total cost should be $659.78.However, if I just book directly from Venetian, the price would be $598 x 9% tax, coming to a total of $651.82.Isn't it now more cost effective to book directly through the Venetian? Thanks for all the help!
thereuare Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 It's Double the Difference, so the math would be as follows:Difference: $67Double the Difference: $67 x2 = $134Two nites Difference: $134 x 2 = $268Cost: $794-$268 = $526If you do take the risk above, please remember to use our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase. genechien Posted January 31, 2007 Author Report Posted January 31, 2007 wow, i'm retarded :) still debating whether to wait for hotwire to increase their prices or jump on this now. in any case, i'll update this thread if do decide to go this route.
thereuare Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 As an FYI and a word of caution... i just read on a Vegas board where somebody commented that they once got the Wynn thru HOTWIRE... but it has not yet been reported here so i can't confirm. genechien Posted February 8, 2007 Author Report Posted February 8, 2007 thanks for the advice. i decided to not use the double the difference method since the hotwire rates keep falling and are now at $333 per night for *5. a friend got me a backup room at mgm so i'm still weighing my options.
