jervid Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I'm looking to stay in Miami for one night on 7/7/07 to the 8th.. i'm looking to say in downtown Miami area and i'm looking to pay no more than $115 for the night... I've see that alot of people are getting the Hyatt but i've read some real bad reviews...and i hear some mixed reviews about the Holiday Inn dowtown...any suggestions???
thereuare Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you willing to accept both of the hotels you've mentioned above? Each of the hotels you've mentioned above have different star ratings as rated by priceline... did you want to bid for a 3* or a 4*?Since there are hotls you're not 'thrilled' with in the zone... how about the Inter-Continental Downtown for $129/nite? There is no booking fee, so after the ~$6 priceline fee this is only about $8 more than your stated budget.Let us know how you want to proceed, or if the above works better for you, and we'll take it from there.PS- if you decide to bid, you may want to book the Inter-Continental as a back-up as it is cancellable and at least gives you something close to your budget while it's still available Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jervid Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 I would prefer the Holiday Inn as the first choice.. and now after reading the review on the Inter-Continental i would use that as a second choice or a back up..
thereuare Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 The point is that you can't choose your hotel... unless you want to pay full price directly from the Holiday Inn website. Are you willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the minimum star rating that you select? If so, do you want to bid for a minimum 3* hotel? (or 4 stars?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jervid Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 Sorry.. I do know that you can't choose a hotel when bidding on priceline...I gave you the price range i was looking at...so i don't know if i can get a 4* in that range...if i can then great...
thereuare Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I would prefer the Holiday Inn as the first choicei don't know if i can get a 4* in that range...if i can then greatThe Holiday Inn is a 3 star property and you say that's your first choice... but if you can get a 4* then "great"... so do you want to bid for a 4* property first or do you want to bid for a 3* property first? The above two comments seem to contradict each other... see why we're confused? :) (or maybe i'm the only one) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jervid Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 i see why 're both confused.... i was recommended the Holiday Inn..because of the location in Miami...i was looking for something downtown because i was going on a curise.. but i diddn't want to pay what they're charging ...i would be more than happy with a 4* ..i'm only going to be there for one day... i just would like something half decent for the night....i hope this clears things up...
thereuare Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Yes, more clear now, but just one more question so we can tailor the strategy to your needs...Do you want the least expensive 3* or better hotel up to your maximum OR do you want to try for a 4* hotel first up to your maximum bid and then try for a 3* only after you have been rejected up to your maximum bid for a 4* (ie- would you prefer a more expensive 4* property or a less expensive 3* property?)Let us know the above and we'll be able to suggest a strategy based upon your preference. jervid Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 let's start with the 4* ones first.. and i'll go from there...thanks againJerry
thereuare Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 The Hyatt is sold-out for your date and the Inter-Continental is $350+ direct from their website, which makes me believe you don't have a high probability of success at the 4* level (and makes booking the InterContinental thru this link at $129 that much more attractive). To give it a try anyway, you have four re-bid zones when bidding 4* in Miami. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select Downtown...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Downtown and re-bid zone4...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
