3boysmommy Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Hello :o we are planning our first trip 9/25-10/2there will be myself and DH, our 3 boys, 12,10 & 9Plus my mom & stepdad.we were really leaning towards HIFShttp://www.hifamilysuites.com/ at $99.00 a night. the kids eat FREE so thats a BIG plus :) plus we can ALL 7 STAY for $99but after looking at this board, I'm not sure :) I know we will need 2 rooms, but there is 2.5* for $23.00 a nightand a 1* (whats that??) that offers complimentary breakfast.we arent *fancy* people, so as long as its clean and close we dont care :) any advice?? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Well it sounds like you have a decent deal with the existing property... is that for a 2BR suite (or 1BR)? Besides price, you know the location and proximity to WDW (i don't know the location, but if you're already shuttling/dirving then it's not as big of a risk using Hotwire, but if the location is 'ideal' then using Hotwire becomes a bigger risk). The advantage of 2+ rooms is getting the extra bathroom and space to get ready. One concern is how you'll plan on splitting up the rooms. I don't know your intention, but if it would be split 5 (your immediate family) and 2 (mom and stepdad) then you have the added uncertainty of getting the bedding type you want, and 5 in a room isn't necessarily a lay-up.Teh 2.5* you're seeing is most likely the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird - Maingate or the La Quinta Inn Lakeside (both of which get mixed reviews... seems like people either love it or hate it). On the otherhand, the property you currently have reserved seems to generally get favorable reviews. As for the 1*, i wouldn't touch it at any price over $10 (and i'd have a back-up ready in case i needed to walk) :) Since there's plenty of time between now and your stay, I'd currently stick with what i have but continue to monitor Hotwire and see if other selections are presented. Deals in this area run aplenty and you may be able to reasonably identify a property that suits your needs and gets more favorable reviews than the ones currently shown. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
3boysmommy Posted February 1, 2004 Author Report Posted February 1, 2004 thank you so much for the help :)the HIFS is a 2 bedroom suite and sofa bed. 1 bedroom has 2 sets of bunkbeds for the kiddos :)I cant reserve the HIFS til I am SURE because you cant cancel for that price.guess I'll just keep checking back and see what comes up, Thanks again!!
