lizzy911 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 My boyfriend and I want to make a quick weekend getaway to the city. We are open to staying in any district on Manhattan but want at least a 2.5* (though 3* would be nice). I remember a few years ago, before I knew of this forum, I stayed at the Club Quarters Downtwon for about $75 one weekend based on Priceline. I was hoping to keep our hotel budget under $80-85... any bidding strategies? What areas am I most likely to get a good rate.Sorry for posting but most posts seems to be for 4* so I was hoping to get some advice.
thereuare Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Don't think you should ever apologize for posting and asking for help as that is what this board is all about (hope that doesn't mean you have been using the board and not posting your results... as that would be something worthy of an apology)Did you want to try for a 3* first up to your maximum and then try for a 2.5*... or is the least expensive 2.5* or better what you're seeking? (although i'm not so certain either will be successful)Let us know and we'll advise further, although 2.5* in NYC can (not always) get a bit 'sketchy'.You may also want to consider looking at the The Pod Hotel which you can book a private bath room for $97 (no booking fee, so only about $6 more than a $85 priceline bid).Within your budget you could probably also stay in Jersey City, which is just a short 15 minute train ride into the city. Their rack rate is $199, so I am happy about the deal. Plus under $100 flights from Ohio (JetBlue sale), can't really beat that. Thanks!
