Priceline Hotel: 4* or 5* Strip - 03/15/07 - 03/18/07

I will be in Vegas from Mar 15 - 18 -- prices are extremely high for hotels on these days - unfortunately my dates aren't flexible.

I tried a $200 bid for 5* on the strip and was counter-offered at $358 - yikes.

Will waiting until closer to the dates help, or should I be getting it figured out now?

Any suggestions on getting a reasonable deal?

Thanks...

I'm thinking $240 would be the absolute max I'd be willing to pay. Unless waiting until closer to the day will make a big difference, it seems unlikely that I'd be able to land a 5* (ie. the Venetian) for that.

As far as the 4*, I'd be happy paying $140 or $150, although I'd be willing to go up to $200 if I have to.

Will waiting help, or should I be moving ahead pronto?

I don't see anything in the $150 area, although you could try on priceline, but then you'd be "throwing in the towel" on something better coming along in the next 2 months.

I'd book the Aladdin for $184/nite (there's not booking fee so more like a $178 bid on Priceline), but more importantly it's cancellable up unitl a couple of days before your stay. This locks you into a good price based upon current rates... if something better comes along you'll be able to take advantage of it; if rates stay the same (or go higher) you'll be protected with this current reservation.

Does that work for you?
