huskie26 Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 :) Getting impatient I ended up with the Morgan's Hotel for $177 a night. My bidding went as follows --130 MTE refused135 + MTW refused140 + UM / CPS refusedthen I started over. . .150 MTE + MTS + MTW refused160 + UES refused170 + UM / CPS refused177 + UWS acceptedThe hotel seems to be hit or miss on trip advisor, but seeing as I have never stayed in a NYC hotel and do not have many 4* to compare to I am sure it will be ok for me. Expedia and other sites have this hotel going for $359 during the same period. I only hope my lack of patience doesn't kick my butt as I am sure I could have gotten a lower rate closer to the actual stay.Used Savingsbarn.com linkAny comments on my bid from more experianced user would be considered helpful.
thereuare Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Thank you for sharing your win with the board.I think you did pretty good... since you previous bid which included this zone was $170 you know that you didn't overbid by more than $6 and this is nearly half off the rate you're finding elsewhere. It didn't appear to make a difference this time, but you could have bid it a bit more systematically, which in the future will ensure that you don't overbid (not to stay that you did this time, as i stated earlier, you did not overbid on this stay at this point). Rates in the spring are higher then they are in the winter, so you shouldn't expect to see the ultra-low rates in April/May that we're currently seeing for Jan/Feb stays. Thanks for using the SavingsBarn.com links to begin your bidding. :)I'm local to the area so if you need any help with things to do and places to go to or eat, feel free to drop me a PM as you begin to map out your itinerary.Enjoy your stay. AaronJB Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I could be wrong, but I believe the Morgans also offers contintental breakfast. If so, that's at least a little bonus.
