Priceline Hotel: Help please - 2/28 - 3/5

Hi, I'm a newbie at priceline. My boyfriend and I will be in NY from 28th February to 5th March, have been looking at rates over the last few months and they seem to have gone up after Christmas.

Best rate I've found for 4* is $187 per night at the Helmsley so I guess $170/180 would be our upper limit at the moment. Would like 4* and prefer not to stay in UES or UWS other than that not too bothered, probably a preference for MTE or MTS. Splitting not really an option. Grateful for help with a bidding strategy. Will be using the UK version of Priceline (we are in London) but I don't think it makes a difference.
