woverbay Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I am new to the whole concept of bidding for hotels. We are planning to go to vegas in Feb. and would like to stay at a 5* hotel. What is the best way to go about getting the best deal? Thanks for your help.

woverbay Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 We would like to keep it around $150-$175, but we would be willing to go up to $200. Does that seem to be too low to get a 5* property? Thanks
thereuare Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Rates for these dates at the Venetian are over $400/nite and at the Bellagio they are $600/nite... so a $200 maximum bid is not likely to be accepted.Did you have any thoughts on a 4* property or do you want to raise your maximum for a 5*? woverbay Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 We might be willing to raise our max bid for a 5*. What percentage of the going rate is usually accepted? Also, just to make sure I know how it works. We put in a bid and if it is rejected, we get to bid again? (How many times do we get to rebid?) Lets say the bid is accepted, we have to take whatever hotel in the ratings category we selected? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks
thereuare Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 What percentage of the going rate is usually accepted? It doesn't work that way. If a hotel has low occupancy they may take half (or less) of their listed rated; if occupancy on a given date is very high they may only offer a $5 or $10 discount vs. their traditional rates (or offer no availability to the opaque suppliers at all!). Given one of the nites of your stay the Venetian is listed for over $500/nite, it would be indicative of a very low discount on this nite (or no availability or discount at all).We put in a bid and if it is rejected, we get to bid again? (How many times do we get to rebid?)You can only bid once every 24 hours unless you change something (check-in, check-out, minimum star rating, or add a zone). See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained Lets say the bid is accepted, we have to take whatever hotel in the ratings category we selected? If accepted, you'll then be told the hotel you'll be staying at.
