Kneel Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Thanks Trachya and other members for your information. Here's my first better bidding / priceline experience:I needed a New York MTE 4* Jan 8-11. Based on what I saw on this board, $110 to $120 seemed the rate for the Grand Hyatt.Bidding at Jan 4 4:00pm (central time)1) MTE $103 - refused2) MTW + UES (free rebid) $112 - refused3) MTW + UES + UWS (2nd free rebid) $118 - refusedBidding Jan 5 8:30pm now for Jan 8-10 (2 nights rather than 3)1) MTE $120 - refusedFound this thread and dramatically increased bidAlso noticed that the Grand Hyatt was sold out on Tuesday Jan 92) MTW + UES (free rebid) $157 - refusedThis was high enough so I didn't do a 3rd bid right awayFound Tachya's comment about Esatgate Towers and lost interest in 4* at high pricesJan 6 2:45pm (central time)3) MTW + UES + UWS (2nd free rebid) $135 - refusedWas considering Millenium UN at $209 a night as I'll be at the UN, but it's also sold out Tuesday.Tried to book Eastgate Towers at Expedia, but the rate was $139.Did a price check through tripadvisors.com and found the $118.75 rate at Travelocity.Based on this experience, I can see an advantage to bid early rather than later in case hotels sell out. Also, even though I didn't get a priceline bid, this board was helpful, so I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others.
