trentslori Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 I have been trying various things for a couple months now. Always starting with SavingsBarn.com. I have seen that other folks have been getting the Venetian for $120-$130 for around the same time. I bid up to $130 tonight for 1/18-1/20. No go. Started at $99. It's not an urgent situation as we are booked at the Barbary Coast for $60 for Thursday and $100 for Friday night, and we're staying at a special promotional rate at the Aladdin the two nights before that. I'll try again for the 5-star thing, but I refuse to go higher than $130 for it. At one point in the bidding process about a month ago I received a "one-time counter offer of $160", which I did not accept. No other counter-offers and I've tried many times.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Not sure if you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID (again for this stay), but you could probably be successful for the first nite (1/18)... currently rates for the second nite are a bit high to see success at $130 or under and that likely explains your rejected bids thus far. trentslori Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Thanks for the suggestion, but honestly it's not worth it to us. We already have two nights at Barbary Coast center strip (albeit only a 3-star), for just $160. We're happy and okay with that. So unless the 5-star is a killer deal, we'll stay put. I tried again today up to $130 and got turned down again. Was offered a counter-offer of $179. A couple weeks ago we were offered $160 for a "one-time offer". No thanks. I'm sure the Venetian doesn't need our measly few dollars. :) I'll probably try again just to see if the Venetian has some rooms to give away. If not, we'll stay put.As always, every attempt I make is through savingsbarn.comI might add that I've had LOTS of priceline successes in other cities. Vegas is just a different entity.
trentslori Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 Final outcome...this morning I checked Priceline (via savingsbarn.com), and they had the Aladdin for all four days of our stay (including a Friday night) for $78 per night, and we were given the option of different rooms to select from. We were able to get a king fountain-view room for that rate! It's a pre-paid deal, so we're now officially set. Jan16-20, 4-star Aladdin $78 per night. No bidding involved. :)
