LGA-DTW one-way

I'm a newbie of priceline and firstly thanks for your help.

I'd like to have a one-way flight from LGA (New York) to DTW (Detriot, MI) on Jan2.

1. When is the best time to bid? e.g. 72 hours before the departure date? or it doesn't matter?

2. As I only care about the LGA-DTW leg, I can put any date as return, which long is the period between the departing and returning flights would give me the best deal?

3. What's the lowest bid do you think that I can put? FYI, the cheapest one-way ticket is like $180 and round-trip is like $260.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on any of the above questions, if you have thoughts for only one question, please still post. Any thoughts are highly appreciated, thanks again :)
