After three separate failed bids of up to $100 / night for a 4* hotel for that same weekend, I decided to up the ante and see if I could get the Venetian.

Bid history

Bid 1 ... $100 (rejected, but PL offered me a free rebid if I added $44)

Bid 2 ... $110 (rejected)

Bid 3 ... $120 (rejected, but PL offered me a free rebid if I added $22)

Bid 4 ... $125 (rejected)

Bid 5 ... $130 (success!)

I'm afraid, that for the time being, the sub-$100 successful 5* bids in Vegas are a thing of the past. Foruntatley, $130 is still a great deal for the Venetian in Vegas.

The odd thing is that I couldn't even get a 4* for under $100 that weekend but I got the Venetian for $130. I don't know how much more I would have had to bid to get a 4*, but for less than $30 extra I'll take a 5*.
