RAV4 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I am new to internet bidding using Hotwire / Priceline and would be very grateful for help with how to bid. I am looking for a hotel in Mid Manhattan NY for dates 25 Dec 06 to 30 Dec 06. On accessing the HOTWIRE link from betterbidding.com and filling in the destitation / dates it came up with grades and location of hotels in Manhattan. On selecting 4* in the theatre district the website leads straight onto total costs etc. I got confused and thought that you had to bid for the hotels and dependent upon whether the bid is successful only then do you progress further onto payment etc.Price upto $160Many Thanks
thereuare Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 There is no bidding on HOTWIRE.Star here: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
grenouillesansleau Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Price upto $160First, you should look at the general tips and explanations about Priceline and Hotwire, as suggested by thereyouare.Once you've read those, you might want to look at my recent post about bidding on Priceline for a 4* in Manhattan around the same time you're looking for a room. You'll see that I didn't have any success bidding in the range of $160ish to a little over $200 for over a week, but finally succeeded a few days ago with a bid of $199 and got the Westin Times Square. Not to suggest that you shouldn't try a bid at $160, but I think you might have to go somewhat higher to get a 4* (although not necessarily as high as the $199 I ended up bidding) between Christmas and New Year's.
