henrikja Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Hi could anyone help me with a priceindication for a 3 star hotel in South Miami Beach March29-April 4, what is a normal price through Priceline? :) Henrik
thereuare Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! When bidding 3* for South Beach you have 2 re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding you can read about it here: Priceline Tip: ReBidding ExplainedI would bid as follows:Select 3* South Beach and...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $50Feel free to ask any questions regarding the above and/or confirm your re-bid zones if you're not sure which ones they are. henrikja Posted January 20, 2004 Author Report Posted January 20, 2004 Hi again. I Started 3*$50, rejectedRebid (added zone) $55, rejectedRebid (added zone) $60, rejectedRebid (added 2,5) $45, rejectedRebid (added zone) $50, rejectedRebid (added zone) $55, rejectedShould i go higher, or should I wait a couple of weeks and see if the prices are better 2-3 week before the trip?/H :)
thereuare Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 A few things...When you bid 2.5*, did you use the same zones as re-bids as you used when bidding 3*? If so, BE CAREFUL, as there are no re-bid zones at the 2.5* level... so whatever zones you added you could have easily ended up with a hotel in that zone. (if you don't understand please ask me to explain further).I would probably wait a little while, but not as long as 2-3 weeks before arrival. I'd be trying this bid about once a week (if you have the patience to do so) until the end of Febuary and then consider raising my bid higher. If you'd prefer to try to pay a little more and be done with this, than i would raise my bid amounts to $55, $60, and $65 for the 3* level... but i wouldn't be bidding more than that at this time.In the meantime, book a cancellable back-up so that you know you'll have a roof over your head and it will put your mind at ease and prevent you from making any rush decisions of raising your bid too much or lowering your star rating.Keep us up to date with your progress (and of course feel free to ask any additional questions that arise... especially the part about re-bidding zones) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
