ga_peach59 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I goofed! :) Was trying for The Radisson at the Port in Port Canaveral, bid 38.00 with Cocoa Beach Zone, was denied. Then added Merritt Island Zone and upped the bid to $40 and was accepted for The Doubletree Hotel Cocoa Beach. :) Is this bad or good? What did I do wrong? And will I even like the Doubletree?Any opinions appreciated! I am completely new to Priceline so maybe I didn't goof at all but what should I have done to get the Radisson? Thanks for all reply's!
thereuare Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 What is the star rating of the DoubleTree and is it in the Cocoa Beach zone (or the Merritt Island zone)?I can comment further knowing the star rating and ultimate zone won.(and please include your dates so that info can help others) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ga_peach59 Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 I was bidding for a 3 * in only Cocoa Beach at $38 and nothing showed up. When I added Merritt Island and upped the bid to $40 for the same 3*, thats when it was accepted for the Doubletree. The dates are June 6th, 2004 for one night!I've been to Cocoa Beach before and all oceanfront hotels are extremely expensive in the summer so I guess for $40/night I did okay. Thanks for the quick reply. I've read here for some time now and finally got my nerve up to actually bid tonight but I wasn't expecting to get something so easily. :)
thereuare Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Well if bidding for 3* then nothing was done wrong as adding Merrit Island was indeed a 'free re-bid'. You got a hotel in the zone you were seeking, so again, nothing was 'wrong'.I read some reviews of the DoubleTree and it seems pretty good (even better than what i saw on the Radisson).Overall i think you got a pretty good deal. Orbitz shows $109 for this date so you got it for less than half, and you know that you came within $1 (if not hitting the number exactly) of what this hotel is willing to accept for this date. What was it that made you think you'd get the Radisson? We have a reported win for the Hilton as appearing as a 3* in this zone so that would have yet another possibility. ga_peach59 Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 I didn't think I was getting the Radisson but I had HOPED I would get the Radisson. I thought maybe I had made a mistake in my bidding. What should I have done to get the Radisson? And also, where might I read a review on The Doubletree? I've read the reviews here but didn't see anything. Thanks for all of your knowledge!:)
