Priceline Hotel: Suggestions for Tampa

I'm looking for some help from someone who is familiar with this area. My husband and I have traveled to TPA several times but have stayed in St. Petersburg or St. Petes Beach each time. This time we are open to anywhere in the TPA zone and we plan on getting a rental car. We are looking for a 2.5*+ (or a pretty secure go at a nice 2*) that is known to be safe and clean. We will be bringing our little one for the first time. Second the price is important so we are being flexible on where we stay. It looks like my parents might be wanting to make the trip also so we would most likely be bidding for 2 rooms. I have bid $50 and $55 for a 2.5* downtown hoping for the Residence Inn and no luck. I'm guessing I will need to be at least $65 for that but then wondered if others had any good ideas before I keep trying for something I'm not familiar with. Thanks in advance!

See my post regarding the Brandon La Quinta. I, too, would have preferred a 2.5 star or above (the Airport Residence Inn is quite nice), but when I rejected at $60, I started looking for alternatives for a place to crash. You have a bit more time, so perhaps you'd want to wait. Without traffic, I think you could get to this property in 15 minutes from downtown.
