Claudia Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I was trying a 4 * hotel in London Gatwick airport for one night Nov 22. I started with 60$ and now I am up to 72 $ but was still rejected. We don't really need a room desperately but it would make our trip to the US more comfortably if we don't have to rush to the airport in the early morning. How are the chances if I wait until one day before we leave?
thereuare Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I'd increase your maximum bid to at least $75 to see if that helps (it just may make the difference) and try every day between now and your departure. If unsuccessful up to $75, since this is only for one nite (and you can arrive at the hotel as late as you want, would you consider a 3* property?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Sweetone Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I have also been bidding for a 4* in the Gatwick area, but I'm looking for Jan 16. Based on my research I think you'll have to bid higher to win a 4*. The last winning bid I saw was $85 in Aug. I've bid up to $98 with no results, but I have a bit longer to go. Good luck.
Claudia Posted November 17, 2006 Author Report Posted November 17, 2006 Bid for 75$ today but was still rejected. I try every day until Wednesday, as we don't really need a hotel I don't want to go too high.If the 3* hotel is the Thistle it's just further away from the airport and I saw quite some offers on different websites for that hotel for around 50-60
Claudia Posted November 22, 2006 Author Report Posted November 22, 2006 No luck there. Tried every day and went up to 105$ for a 4*.From checking other websites it seemed the Arora was full anyway and who knows if the Sofitel (formerMeridian) still participates.Well, we will rush to the airport tomorrow morning then - at least we have nice hotels in Jersey City, thanks to your forum and help!
