I bid for a 3* in the Schaumburg zone (Chicago Suburbs) and won with a $29 bid. The Radisson website had this hotel property for as low as $55 the day before my reservation and that was the lowest I could find it listed at. Their website mentions that this property is newly renovated...Not exactly! There was construction still taking place when I stayed there on 1/10/04. I did ask the front desk rooms manager Duane (very nice, friendly and helpful) about the renovation and he said when finished the entire hotel would be redone..and when was that to be..in at least 3 months I was told.

As for the hotel in general...first off ..be careful using priceline directions. If you do not know this area well this hotel can be a bit difficult to find especially with those directions. I was fortunate enough to have another map and that helped greatly. This hotel is not located near the other major hotels and is actually in a bit more rundown area of the city. The property is an older property all around but still acceptable. We were within minutes of the Woodfield Mall and all the shopping surrounding the mall and also the IKEA store so it was still a good location for us. The young woman who checked us in had no clue and was very new. Duane was there helping her and it took some time to check in although he was very polite about it. She tried to charge my credit card even though I was prepaid :) so I was thankful he was there to straighten things out. It was mentioned that I was on priceline but I don't think it would have been had she not been so confused. We were given a non-smoking 2 double beds room on the 3rd floor which was what we wanted so no problems there. In our room we found new carpeting, newer bedding and a somewhat remodeled bathroom, all of which was clean. There was a hair dryer, coffee maker, and a 25 inch tv with an average selection of channels. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower cap, and cloth. There was no bathroom fan so it got a little steamy. The room itself was of average size. When we returned to the room at about 10:00pm the construction noise had stopped....BUT at 7:26am on a Sunday morning the noises started again and even from my 3rd floor room I could hear them, not pleasant. I didn't notice a smell of smoke in my room when I first checked in, but when I came in later that night it did smell some smoke. I also smelled some smoke in the bathroom. My guess is that their ventilation system is old and could use some renovations too!

I didn't eat at the restaurant (didn't look busy at anytime I was there but looked nicely furnished), or use the fitness center. There is a pool and whirlpool but they are outdoor so I didn't use them either. While in line at check out I did hear the woman at the desk (not the same as at check in) say to the man in front of me you are all paid ..you were on priceline etc. so I wasn't the only one. There were several other guests standing around and if I was one of them and heard that after paying full price I may have been a litte upset. Usually I get a "thank you for staying everything is all set since your stay was prepaid etc.).

Overall the staff was friendly and the hotel seemed clean. For a one night place to sleep I couldn't really complain and since I only paid $29+taxes and fees this hotel was worth it.
