nickhx Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Hi there,Would very much appreciate anyone's advice on booking the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson via Priceline. We are looking to stay from 30 December 2006 until 2 January (inclusive) and I was wondering whether it was worth trying this route given the busy New Year period. If so, would anyone be able to suggest a bidding strategy? Thanks very muchKind RegardsNick
thereuare Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 There is more than one 3* hotel in this zone and you can't bid on a specific property... are you willing to accept any 3* hotel in this area? If not, HOTWIRE may be a better option for you? What is your maximum budget? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nickhx Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 Hi there,Thanks for the quick reply. I would be willing to consider other hotels although the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson does look fantastic!Hotwire is not offering me any 3* options at the moment, but it may be that it is too early at present?Ideally my budget would be around US$150 a night. Thanks for your help!Kind RegardsNick
thereuare Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 The Hyatt has last been reported as a 4* hotel on HOTWIRE.The nite of the 31st (as you can imagine) is expensive at the Jerse City Hyatt and currently that will likely prevent your success at $150 or less. The first nite seems expensive too (thru the opaque providers), but i believe there is availability for the last nite at a very good rate. Is this a discretionary trip that you'll be making only if you can get a good deal or are your plans firm and you need a room no matter what? nickhx Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 Thanks for the advice -- this is a discretionary trip we're planning (no flights booked yet!) so really trying to get a good deal in the NYC City area.I wonder whether it would be worth bidding for individual nights? (you're right the 31st seems to be the main sticking point).
thereuare Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Bidding for the nites independently is a risky situation for this right now unless you have a suitable back-up for each nite should the opaque suppliers not come thru for you. The nite of 12/31 is going to be tough no matter what, so what happens if you break up the stay and get a good deal for 12/30 and 1/1 but are shutout of 12/31... a room thru conventional methods for that nite can be VERY expensive (and depending upon the hotel class, may require a multi-nite stay). So if you decide to split, make sure you have a back-up plan for any nites that you aren't successful for. jj8a Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 NICKHX:We will stay dec 29th-jan 3th and considering they will have a great demand on New years eve I made a Split 29 to 1 $180, 31, 1st to 3rd jan $70. Please let me know what was your final Bid. Good luck
thereuare Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 jj8a,Were you successful on any of those bids? It would be appreciated, and it would help others, if you would post your successful and failed bids to the board as a NEW TOPIC... as you can see there are others whould could benefit from the information.
