deesocal Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 Just an FYI. I booked a hotel for 4 nights using priceline for Jan 11-Jan 15 07 back in Sept. The hotel I received was the Royal Lahaina Resort.( I totally overpaid it at $175 night. I meant to put a resort in and instead put in a 3 star). We are going for a wedding and a lot of the people are staying at this place. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation and it was supposed to be completed before our arrival. Well, it turns out that the renovation will not be completed prior to our arrival. My friends booked their rooms thru a travel agent so they were able to move over to the Whaler. Well, I was not sure I would be able to move since PL's policy is non refundable. Last Thursday, I contacted PL and explained the situation to them. The person that I spoke with told me that she would refer this to their travel dept(they would then have to contact the hotel) and they will contact me via email in 2 bus days. Well, Friday afternoon, I received a phone call from the travel dept and she had contacted the hotel directly. She spoke with two different people, one person said the renovation would be complete, one said it would not. She gave me the opportunity for a refund. I asked her if they could just place me in another hotel but she told me that I would need to rebook it all over again, so obviously, I chose the refund. I was really prepared for a fight on this and it was so easy and they were very accommodating!
deesocal Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 After further review, it appears that this is the Royal Lahaina Resort, which is what I am trying to avoid. They are undergoing a major renovation. See my post under PL about this issue.
