Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Since all of the hotels in the San Fernando Valley Area are 3* or less, how can I rebid this without risking being assigned to an area I do not want to be in?
thereuare Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 As "Glendale" is not a Priceline zone, what zone are you selecting for your bidding? In the (Los Angeles - San Fernando Valley) region you do have one re-bid zone available when bidding 3 stars. See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained for an explanation of how to determine your re-bid zones and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your zones with the board before proceeding. Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 7, 2006 Author Report Posted November 7, 2006 Glendale is part of the Universal City/Burbank zone. Sorry for the confusion.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Do you see that you do have a re-bid zone available? What is your maximum bid? Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 I discovered that people had been booking 3* at Warner Center for $50-55, so I targeted them instead. Added Studio City and still can not get in.Since I am targeting a 3*, I am nervous about trying to add other areas I would not want to stay in, such as Simi Valley and Van Nuys.Basically, I would prefer to stay under $75. Nothing lower than a 3*. I would like to stay in one of these areas:Universal City/Burbank/GlendaleWarner CenterStudio CityAny suggestions on how I can accomplish this?Thank you for any suggestions :-)
thereuare Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 You do have one 'true' re-bid zone... a zone that you can add and not risk getting a hotel in that area.Have you read Priceline Re-Bidding Explainedwhich explains how to determine any available re-bid zone(s)? Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 I do not believe so.There are no 4* in this zone. Everything is 3* or less. And all the areas within the zone have 3* options.I think I only have one more shot at this - late tonight.I thought it would be best to try the cheaper option first (Warner). But I didn't even get the "raise your bid by $17 option" last night. So this is my plan (I think):bid $75 Universal/Burbankadd Studio City and bid $80add Warner Center, bid $85 and hold my breath...BTW, in the past I had both my husband and I bid separately with our own email accounts. Now Priceline will not allow this. Have they changed their rules on this?
Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 I decided to try rebidding early by adding Valencia to the zones.I ended up booking the Hilton in Woodland Hills (Warner Center Area) for $75.Not my first choice, but a good deal nonetheless. Thanks for the help.Of course, I went through the SavingsBarn portal...I will start a new topic to show my successful bid.

thereuare Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for starting your bids with the priceline hotel links at SavingsBarn.comIf you haven't been adding Studio City to your bidding, you should really give Priceline Re-Bidding Explained a good reading as you could have safely added that zone (as of this writing) since the highest star rating in that area is only 2.5*. If you have any questions regarding re-bidding feel free to ask. Thanks again for the post and enjoy your stay. Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 10, 2006 Author Report Posted November 10, 2006 I did use Studio City. But I read that the Sportsman's Lodge on Ventura Blvd was a 3*.Oh well. All's well that ends well. :)
