nvidiot Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 hi folks,i am looking at a 4* for next year president's day. i understand it'll be high season so i didnt hesitate to set my budget to 140 but i never thought nowadays hotels in oahu can be this expensive on PL, my bid has gone up to $150 but still no luck, can anyone offer some tips on possible bid range for this period?this is what i did: 4* or resort1. $120 for Waikiki N, rejected2. $130 for Waikiki N & S, rejected3. $140 for Waikiki N, S, HNL airport, rejected4. $145 for Waikiki N, S, HNL airport, Diamond Head, rejected5. $150 for Waikiki N, S, HNL airport, Diamond Head, EC, rejectedmaybe i should just go ahead with a vocation package offered on Expedia if PL's hotel gets too high. what do u guyz think?
kohalasunset Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 I can tell you President's Day/Weekend is busy locally in Waikiki. A lot of the best-priced available rooms get booked early.Outrigger Waikiki appears to be a new addition to PL Resort inventory, so you might get lucky with that.4*S has been won at 180 and could go higher. Check Hotwire for your dates. If there is a good deal there in your price range, don't hesitate to book it. Inventory changes rapidly there. I'm sure there are other options, just consider all your needs. If you need airfare, a package could be good, but compare websites-- Priceline, Hotwire, Expedia, airlines, etc. before you purchase or make any more bids. You should have an idea what is available before you start bidding. Good luck!
kohalasunset Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Did a little checking for you--Hawaii Prince 4* N shows no availability for your dates.Marriott 4*S shows rooms starting at 259--may be nothing on PL.You could check the resorts to see prices/availability. Your dates include Valentine's Day, the start of Chinese New Year and Presidents Day--all busy dates. You can look at 3* hotels or consider raising your bid. Lots of people are happy at 3* level. Hope this helps.
nvidiot Posted November 8, 2006 Author Report Posted November 8, 2006 Thank you so much kohalasunset. YEA, it
AEmgee Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 If you are set on staying in the Waikiki North zone:You should be able to get the Outrigger Reef on the Beach for between $170-180 since HOTWIRE has it for $196.See my post here for details.Unfortunately, the Hawaii Prince Hotel looks like it's available to Hotwire for $246 so if you bid 4* in Waikiki North you WILL get upgraded to the "resort" Outrigger Reef.
