siggy Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 HI folks!Just curious.Tried booking orlando to minneapolis today with published fares of $230 per person with 7 days advance(leaving next friday10th back on 19th).I bid almost $200 on priceline and it wasn't accepted. they wanted $240! It's $227 at NWA.com!!!Is there a best time to wait for priceline tix. Like the best deals are 5 days in advance for example. Anyone know?Really appreciate the help and love the forum!
thenewbie Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Priceline isn't always the best option for airfare. You may also want to look into Airtran, as they offer direct flights from MCO - MSP.
siggy Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 they used to be.To me priceline has really gone down hil! :)
thenewbie Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Remember, Priceline is used to fill empty seats for the airlines. When airlines are flying smaller planes to save $ on gas, they likely will have fewer open seats. One thing to consider is whether saving $30 is worth the inflexibility of a Priceline ticket. You don't get to pick your flight times, could have a stop when non-stop flights exist, don't earn frequent flyer miles, and are unable to change your ticket. For many people, saving $30 wouldn't make up for all of the above.
lowballer Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I hope you bought that $227 fare. It wasn't about to get any cheaper.
