Priceline Hotel: Help With New Orleans - French Quarter 12/31

I am going to New Orleans for New Year's Eve, just the one night. I booked the AmeriHost for $110 including tax. I tried a few lowball bids on Priceline for the area and as expected, had no luck. Is it even worth pursuing Priceline for a holiday and area like this? In anyone's opinion, could I possibly get something comparable to the AmeriHost or better for less than the above price? Thanks much.

You can try staying just outside the Quarter. It makes all the difference. I spent the weekend in New Orleans this past week, and it cost me $40 per night for a 3* hotel. We were just a few blocks from the French Quarter. This was a weekend with a Saints home game, which really surprized me.

Choose the convention center district, and you'll be plenty close. I'm handicapped, and it was an easy walk for me.
