Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Mag Mile-Wacker Dr) Conrad

I don't see any exact matches on this forum but I'm bidding for a 4* for November 18 - November 20 for 2 rooms and getting a 4* in the Mag Mile/Wacker area for $136 with the following amentities:

1) Fitness Center

2) Restaurant

3) Business Center

4) High Speed Internet

Any theories on what this is?

That would possibly be a new property, not yet reported. At first I thought maybe it was a different property (Hyatt, maybe?) showing less amenities. However, the tripadvisor rating of 4/5 would lead me to believe it isn't the Hyatt, as it's doubtful the Hyatt has ever reached 4/5.

Throwing out a few guesses (keep in mind they're only *guesses*): a downgraded Conrad Hotel or possibly the Renaissance. Could be something else entirely, though. Still, seems like a good choice to me.

To be honest with you I'm a Priceline guy - I've never used Hotwire - It seems like Priceline gets better rates, and I've used another board for Priceline in the past. This by far is better than the other board and I'm now now a convert to Betterbidding.com.

So in short, I haven't been holding out on you! Thanks for the feedback.

I currently have rooms at the Affinia due the location, but I might be trying this out. I'll let you know what happens.

The Affinia is in a good location - walked by there the other day - but the Hotwire deal would be a nice deal for (potentially) the Conrad, which is right on Michigan Ave. If it is in fact the Conrad, the hotel is showing a $225 regular rate on Hilton.com.

It was in fact the Conrad! I'm very excited, thanks for the input folks, it gave me enough confidence to actually bid!

Final price was $138 / Room; Two Rooms, 11/18 - 11/20.

Has anyone stayed here with a Hotwire bid? I'm always nervous that I'm going to get one of those rooms that is yet to be remodeled!

Glad it worked out and was the Conrad :)

The Conrad took over the existing (and fairly newish, as Chicago hotels go) Le Parker Meridien last year. A couple of tripadvisor reviews that mention getting the hotel on priceline offer positive takes on the hotel. Everything I'm reading online indicates the hotel has finished with its renovations, so I don't think you'll have anything to worry about in that regard.

The hotel is above the North Bridge mall, which has an entrance right on Michigan Ave. You're right on the Michigan Ave. shopping area - however, you're more on the South end of it, so you're a little (maybe 4-5 blocks) closer to Loop attractions like the Art Institute/Millennium Park than you would have been at the Affinia.
